I intend to implement a social and economic welfare plan for Imo State. My  welfare and HCD plan will cover all Imolities by providing a health insurance policy, job creation schemes, agricultural expansion plans and the improvement of the ease of doing business in the state.

 

Health Insurance Policy:

Through a health care scheme, working age Imolite will be encouraged to pay a token for health insurance that will cover individuals and their families. This way, Imo State will have improved health care facilities as well as free medicals for Imolities aged 0 – 11years and 65 – above. This can cover the entire population of 5,584,635 within the state.

 

Employment and Compensation:

According to Vanguard newspaper, as at 5th May 2018, pensioners within the state had not been paid for about 30 -54 months. This is expected since the recurrent expenditure of Imo exceeds her total monthly revenue. A compensation improvement plan will be implemented for civil servants and retirees through the creation of more economic activities within the state. This way, the state can grow her internally generated revenue (IGR) and meet her monthly obligations.

 

Agriculture:

Imo State is suitable for cash crops such as palm oil, raffia palm, rice, groundnut, melon, cotton, cocoa, rubber, and maize. It is also suitable for consumable crops such as yam, cassava, cocoyam and maize. Other agricultural produce include, iroko, mahogany, obeche, bamboo, rubber tree and oil palm. By investing in agriculture and offering subsidies to farmers, I will maximize the agricultural potentials of Imo State by cultivating edible fungi and medical mushroom, which are both in high demand in the international market.

 

Ease of doing business:

Imo State ranks 31 among the 36 states in Nigeria for the index on the ease of doing business. It takes 34 days to start a business in the state. My aim is to make Imo rank among the top 3 business destinations in Nigeria by reducing the bureaucracy it takes to register a business and also by automating the process to register a business entity.
