Imo State has about seven (7) accredited higher institutions: Imo State University, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Technological Skills Acquisition Institute, Orlu. These institutions serve the people of Imo and others from all over Nigeria. This makes Imo attractive and an important hub for academic work in Nigeria.
